LOCAL SERVICES
Christchurch (Anglican)
CHRISTCHURCH which is found in Rough Street, just up from the Methodist Chapel and before the bridge, is an Anglican Church in the ‘middle of the road’ tradition. It is open every day, usually between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
SUNDAY: there is a parish communion service at 9.30am which changes in style from week to week. This service also has a Sunday School. On a fifth Sunday the service rotates between the other churches in the Anglican Benefice of Redruth of which Christchurch is a part. There is a 6.00pm evening service on a rotational basis.
WEDNESDAY: there is a parish communion service at 11.30am according to the
Prayer Book service. This is sometimes followed by a study group.
GIVING: the congregation supports the children of Nepal and the children of Cuba. They also respond to disasters, national need, need within Cornwall and need within Lanner and the surrounding communities.
ACTIVITIES: there is a tea party on the last Friday of each month at 2.00pm and a film club at 7.00pm on the same evening. A youth theatre group meets at 3.00pm each Saturday and there are plans to open a ‘toddler group’. A monthly gardening club meets to ensure the churchyard is kept to a high standard. There is also a monthly social event eg. themed evening, quiz, presentation etc. Full details of each week’s activities and services are on the church noticeboard. The congregation is also very aware of the climate change debate and is currently involved in an ECO-BRICK project.
INFORMATION: for details of anything that may interest or concern you eg. weddings and baptisms, please phone Fr Peter, 07903807946 who is a retired priest and also looks after St Andrew, Pencoys and works in the other Redruth Churches.
PLEASE KNOW THAT YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR FRIENDS WILL BE VERY WELCOME AT WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO BE PART OF.
