Working in partnership with the Cornwall Rural Community Charity and Cornwall Council’s ‘SOS project’ great improvements have been possible at the entrance splays to Lanmoor Estate.
The area had become overgrown making use of the seat less than comfortable and doing little to enhance the street scene. So, the parish council has taken a licence of the front part of the splays from Cornwall Highways and are acquiring the freehold of the back part, also from Cornwall Council, to manage the whole area to a good standard.
Volunteers from Cornwall Council’s staff teamed up with members of the parish council and its contractor, Tidy Grounds, to clear the jungle of vegetation. On a hot day the volunteers toiled hard but, in the end, produced great results and were very satisfied with their combined achievements.
Volunteer Emma said: ‘It’s been really great to be part of something to make things in a local community better. I have really enjoyed it and will certainly be signing up to volunteer again!”
All were well sustained by Portreath Bakery’s famous Cornish pasties!
A huge thank you and well done to all those involved. The SOS team also helped in repainting fencing around the Strawberry Fields recreation area during the previous week.
The parish council can now consider what else can be done to enhance this area and improve a pleasant amenity space in Lanner.
