I work for Devon and Cornwall Police as a Cyber Protect Officer and my role is to provide advice and guidance to Businesses, Charities and Organisations helping them to protect themselves and their employees from becoming victims of cyber-crime. We are the Cyber Lead for Devon and Cornwall Police, working as part of the wider Police Cyber network, ‘Team Cyber UK’.
As you may be aware, cyber-crime is a Tier 1 threat to National Security and criminals will exploit any opportunity they can. In light of the current pandemic, we are now seeing an increase in phishing scams, sextortion (webcam blackmail) and other cyber related crimes occurring across our area. However in general terms, cybercrime is a very under-reported crime.
We are here to help you and your community.
Our role involves conducting workshops, training sessions and presentations to groups and businesses across our counties – all free of charge. Due to the current pandemic we are delivering a lot of what we do virtually, but over webinar or in person, our sessions are always tailored to the nature of the business we deal with and based on the latest advice and guidance from the government’s National Cyber Security Centre.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in learning more about what we do. We are currently trying to spread our reach across Devon and Cornwall it would be much appreciated if you could share our information (I have attached a flyer outlining the above with our contact details) to your own networks and community groups
I look forward to hearing from you.
