These meetings are run by the Kernow Carers Service and are a free service for unpaid carers to give them an opportunity to discuss the issues they face and have their voices heard in a welcoming and confidential environment, with others facing similar problems.
Many people are unaware of the help they can get because they don’t recognise themselves as carers as they look after a family member or friend. Staff from Kernow Carers Service will be at the meetings, and will be able to give help and advice to carers, including making referrals to Carer Support Coordinators (CSCs) who work directly with individual carers to help them with such things as accessing benefits and services.
Where issues can’t be resolved at the meeting or by a CSC, we attend various other groups such as the Carers Partnership Board and Healthwatch Cornwall where we are able to highlight any concerns our members may have in regard to their caring role.
The next meeting of the Camborne & Redruth Carers Forum will be held at Camborne Community Centre, South Terrace, Camborne TR14 8SU on Tuesday 4 June from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. All Carers are welcome and expenses will be considered to enable them to attend.
An advertising leaflet for carers is attached. For further information please call 01872 243530 or visit our website.
