SCAM – cold callers phoning stating money owed and to pay with iTunes gift cards

We have been made aware that residents have received cold calls by telephone from persons purporting to be from a government agency stating that a fine needed to be paid / or tax owed.

The residents were asked to purchase Itunes vouchers/gift cards from a shop and then to phone them with the code, the callers were very forceful in manner.

This is a scam.

Please be wary of any variation of this story, please hang up on these calls.

Please make neighbours and family aware of this, especially elderly or vulnerable.

If you have any concerns or information please phone 101.
Information can also be passed to Action Fraud by phoning 0300 123 2040.
Thank you.
